We offer a Ph.D. minor in Victorian Studies for students from any discipline. Our students gain a depth of knowledge in the history, literature, and culture of the nineteenth-century British world, and a breadth of understanding regarding the relevance of Victorian Studies to today’s academic institutions and the public sphere.

Our leading interdisciplinary journal of the humanities, Victorian Studies, is edited by faculty and graduate students at IU. Victorian Studies is devoted to the study of British culture of the Victorian age and regularly includes articles on comparative literature, social and political history, and the histories of education, philosophy, fine arts, economics, law, and science.
